Lane Auten, CFA

Lane is the Founder and Managing Partner of Impact Capital Partners.  He has 21 years of experience in traditional and impact investment banking and emerging markets.  

Most recently, Lane was Managing Director at Waypoint Real Estate Group, a leading U.S. private equity real estate group focused on converting REO housing into rental properties.  Lane continues to serve Waypoint on strategic affordable housing projects and on its Advisory Board.  

In 2008, Lane worked with Unitus Investment Group and Huntsman Gay Capital Impact on creating and marketing funds in global microfinance and Indian affordable housing.  Lane's impact investing career started in 1992, first working with the International Privatization Group of Price Waterhouse in Eastern Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall, then with the World Bank on agricultural finance projects in Ecuador.  

In 1995, Lane joined Banco Santander in Madrid as an investment banker in the corporate strategy group during their global acquisition phase, focusing on Latin America and Northern Europe.  Then he moved to San Francisco to work with Union Bank of Switzerland, and subsequently with HRJ Capital as Managing Director, leading the structuring and placement of  +US$2 billion of private equity in global venture capital, buy-out, distressed-turnaround, and real estate.    

Lane completed a Masters in Foreign Service and International Business Diplomacy from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, FINRA Securities Registrations 7 and 63, and is fluent in English, Spanish and German.

 

Mark Schofield

Mark is an entrepreneur and investor with more than twenty years of experience in investment management in North and South America and Europe. 

Since returning to Barcelona, Spain, in 2002, Mark has written fiction and worked as a managing partner in local start-up publishing house Global Rhythm Press/Papel de Liar, and managed investment portfolios for individuals and a family office. 

Previously, Mark worked for State Street Bank in Boston, where he began as the Director of Latin America for the bank’s Global Strategy and Development division, and later became Head of Latin America and Iberia for State Street Global Advisors’ (SSgA) asset management business, before returning to Boston and becoming responsible for developing and implementing the marketing program for a new SSgA unit dedicated to distributing investment strategies via third-party platforms (wirehouses, regional brokers, and independent Registered Investment Advisors).

Prior to his work at State Street, Mark spent three years as Vice President in the Office of the Chairman of Banco Santander in Madrid, Spain, during the period of the bank’s rapid expansion in the Americas. He began his career with the U.S. office of Baring Brothers Bank as an Emerging Markets analyst and worked on the creation and institutional sales and marketing of the Barings Emerging Markets Index (BEMI), the first of its kind. 

Mark earned an M.B.A. from I.E.S.E. in Barcelona, Spain and B.A.’s in English Literature and Managerial Studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He is fluent in English and Spanish and conversant in Portuguese and Catalan. 

 

Jim Butcher

Jim is the founder and managing director of Entegra, a strategic, environmental and scenario planning consultancy.  Over the last eighteen years, Jim has led over 120 scenario planning and environmental strategy projects with Fortune 500 companies and governments globally. Most recently, he created and led Morgan Stanley’s global environmental office, which encompassed internal corporate initiatives, external and governmental efforts, and created new business opportunities, including new environmental funds (venture capital and infrastructure) and green opportunities with its real estate investment funds. Prior to Entegra, he was a senior partner with the Global Business Network (GBN), the world’s leading scenario planning consultancy.

Previously, Jim was a senior consultant with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and a program officer with the Ford Foundation directing their international and U.S. environmental programs across ten field offices that linked environment with rural economic development. Over the last eighteen years, he has worked as an organizational strategist and thinker in business, industry and government for over seventy clients in the United States, Latin America, Asia and Europe.

Jim received his M.A. and B.A. degrees in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford University, England, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. His undergraduate degree is in civil and environmental engineering from Utah State University. He has served on various advisory panels, including the National Academy of Sciences, American Water Foundation, and is currently on the Leadership Council of the Corporate Eco-Forum (CEF).

 

Mar Sánchez

Mar is an International Business Management Executive with more than 15 years of experience in Consulting, developing businesses for Start-up and Renowned Companies in different sectors. 

She started the career in 1997 at her hometown - Barcelona - and strengthened internationally in different cities. In 1999 Mar was working at PeopleSoft European Headquarters in Amsterdam for the Financial area. After two years, she was promoted to move to the Headquarters in the Bay Area - California - and succeeded in the reorganization of the Latin America market. Mar applied all her know-how when she came back to Barcelona in 2002.

After several years growing back home leading the implementations of Business Intelligence solutions - Cognos, Business Objects - for Fortune Companies, her enormous curiosity led her to take new callenges moving first to Copenhagen in 2008 and later to Paris in 2010 to open new markets at two different start-up companies. Since then, she has been developing European and Asia Pacific markets.

Mar completed a Master´s Degree in Economic Sciences and Management at the UB University (University of Barcelona) and Financials Management Masters Degree at EAE (UPC University). She is fluent in English, Spanish, Catalan and French.
